Well, I had my 6 month check-up with the allergist yesterday. It turned into a 4 hour appointment! I had the basic skin test that I always have. They prick my skin with the egg, soy and peanut solutions and wait to see if my skin reacts to them. The egg and peanut allergies are still getting worse-I got huge hives from them and my eczema even flared up a little...just from a simple prick! The good news is that Dr.Rezvani thinks that by the time I am 6 I will outgrow the egg allergy....probably not the peanut allergy. But until then, we are still avoiding anything with eggs or peanuts/tree nuts.
The soy did not cause a huge reaction on my skin so the doctor decided to try a "soy challenge." They fed me pure soy milk in increasing doses over the course of an hour (every 10 minutes) and then we waited another hour to see if I would have a reaction. Unfortunately, I did. My left eye got all red and itchy, I started sneezing a lot and my nose became very congested so I had to take some medicine to stop the reaction. Based on that, Dr. Rezvani said I can continue to have foods that have soy in them just nothing that is pure soy, like soy milk, tofu etc, which is what Mommy and Daddy have been doing with me anyway. So no changes to report but that's ok...I have never tasted eggs or peanuts anyway, so I don't even know what I am missing!
